Our Story: From Construction to Decommissioning 

Wayco Environmental traces its roots to Wayco Excavating, founded by Wayne Weidman in the 1970s. Starting with a single Case backhoe, Wayne built a strong reputation in the Eckville area, specializing in septic systems, utility installations, and oil and gas projects, including pipeline installation and cattle guard construction.

Chris, who collaborated with Wayne throughout his career, recognized an opportunity in the growing decommissioning market and acquired Wayco Excavating in 2020. Under Chris's leadership, the company evolved into Wayco Environmental Inc., focusing exclusively on facility decommissioning, pipeline abandonment, hydrocarbon removal, and environmental remediation for the oil & gas industry.

Today, Wayco Environmental serves projects throughout Alberta from single-well decommissions to complex oil and gas facility removals.

Our Approach

As a small, customer-focused company, we can pivot quickly to match the demands of our clients. We work directly with integrity and abandonment departments, building long-term relationships based on reliability and results.

We're a prime contractor who can manage projects from start to finish, coordinating with trusted subcontractors when needed. We also maintain multiple contacts who can assist with buying and selling desirable equipment within the industry to help cover project costs.

Meet Chris

Wayco Environmental Owner

Chris began his career in 2000 in pipeline construction before transitioning to operations for a local oil company. In 2008, he founded CLI Consulting Ltd. to manage pipeline and facility projects.

In 2020, recognizing the growing need for specialized decommissioning services in the oil & gas industry, Chris acquired and rebranded Wayco Excavating as Wayco Environmental Inc. His vision was to create a company dedicated exclusively to environmental and industrial cleanup solutions, focusing on the unique needs of oil & gas producers facing increasing decommissioning requirements.

Chris's combination of hands-on field experience and project management expertise drives Wayco Environmental's reputation for efficient, safe, and cost-effective decommissioning solutions.
